Robin Wiessmann is Secretary of Banking and Securities for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She has extensive experience in the private and the public sectors. Her career in the private sector includes six years at Goldman Sachs as a Vice President and nine years as President of Artemis Capital Group. Her career in the public sector started in the Department of Finance for the city of Philadelphia.

Her presentation emphasized the importance of government regulation in the financial services industry. The Department of Banking and Securities monitors all deposits, lending, investments, and transfer of money in Pennsylvania.

Wiessmann offered three pieces of career advice. First, ability can take you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there. Second, success is the ability to go from one loss to another without a losing a positive attitude. Third, the ability to adapt is critical for success and happiness. At one point, she quit a high level job to start a woman-owned firm with all female colleagues.
