James R. Fisher, Sr. ’77, Member, Public Pension Capitol, LLC presents case studies to illustrate how private equity firms identify and create value. (February 26, 2015)

From April 1, 1997 through April 1, 2012, James R. Fisher headed up Fisher Capital Corp. LLC, an affiliate of the investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., which assisted in identifying and analyzing investment opportunities in financial services. Since 2012, Mr. Fisher has served as a member of Public Pension Enterprises LLC, a middle market private equity firm. Mr. Fisher served on the Board of Directors of First Data Corporation and also served as Chairman of the Audit Committee until December 31, 2013. Mr. Fisher is a Trustee of Lafayette College, the National World War II Museum and CentraState Healthcare Foundation. Mr. Fisher was previously a member of the Board of Directors of: Willis Group Holdings, Alea Group Holdings, A.G. (Alea) and Bristol West Holdings, Inc, where he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. All of these companies were transactions where Mr. Fisher was a member of the transaction team.

From 1986 through March 1997, Mr. Fisher was a senior executive at American Re Corporation serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Re-Insurance Company (American Re) and American Re Corporation, President of American Re Financial Products, and President and Chief Executive Officer of American Re Asset Management. He also had responsibility for the Systems and Services, Human Resources Division, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications Divisions of American Re-Insurance Company, Am-Re Managers of Bermuda and The Becher & Carlson Companies (an insurance broker and captive and risk management company). Mr. Fisher oversaw American Re’s corporate finance activities (over $6B in financing), sponsored many of its new business initiatives and the structuring and placement of American Re’s retrocessional programs (approximately $400M in annual ceded premium per year). Prior to joining American Re, Mr. Fisher was Director of Insurance Industry Services at Price Waterhouse.

Mr. Fisher holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Lafayette College and he was a Charter Member of The International Economics Honor Society of Omicron Delta Upsilon. Mr. Fisher is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
