Barbara Levy ’77 was the guest commentator on April 2, leading the discussion about the wholesale and retail trade sector of the global economy. Ms. Levy has deep experience and knowledge in every aspect of the retail fashion business. She began her career in the retail business with at L. Bamberger as a buyer, making merchandise decisions and purchasing from suppliers around the world.
Bamberger was purchased by RH Macy and Company, where Barbara became Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager. After Macy’s, Barbara spend almost 15 years with Ross Stores, where she was Executive Vice President, overseeing 700 stores and $1.5 billion in sales volume. Most recently, Barbara was Senior Strategy Advisor to Ideeli Inc., where she advised the CEO and the merchandising team.
Barbara is actively engaged in the life and governance of Lafayette College. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1998, and she is presently a member of the Executive Committee, the Committee on Compensation, and the combined Committees on Development & Alumni Relations and External Affairs. She is Vice Chair of the college’s Capital Campaign.
